| Abstract | The unbalanced development between urban and rural areas has always been a problem for Taiwan's social development. Enhancing economic opportunities such as green tourism and sustainable development in rural areas can help stabilize regional tourism and other economic development. In 2011, the United Nations stated that the first priority for sustainable development is the promotion of a green economy. The most appropriate way to promote local creativity is through green tourism. Green tourism is a kind of tourism that focuses on the conservation of the natural environment, equitable social development opportunities, the survival and manifestation of fine traditions, and the development of a green economy. This study is in line with the "Ministry of Education's second phase ”]109-111”^ of the University Social Responsibility Practice Program. 109 Annual Report on Implementation Results", which is planned with "green tourism" as the goal framework, and the "Green Tourism Self-Assessment Form" developed by the Taiwan Green Tourism Association is used as a reference to explore the project. Since our school is located at the border between the South Tamsui-Kavalan Trail and the metropolitan area, we took advantage of the location and used the two stations along the Pingxi Line Railway as the objects of this study. The study will be able to combine the local industrial resources through the assistance of specialists from relevant departments of our university. This study will promote industrial development, cultural enhancement, and growth momentum, as well as the cultivation and employment of local specialists, and the sustainable and cultural development of innovative industries. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach and a semi-structured interview method. A total of 12 people were interviewed from the three communities, including local representatives, store managers, and merchants. The five areas of Green Tourism, namely Landscape Tourism, Ecotourism, Rural Tourism, Culture Tourism, and Low Carbon Tourism, were analyzed and discussed by the tourism industry. The five major aspects were analyzed and discussed. After the interview, the impact of green tourism on the four major areas of local environment, economy, culture and society are analyzed according to the three directions of enhancing, maintaining and improving local tourism. |
