  • Abstract This thesis, we study system transient response when the system suffers from fault in a micro grid witch various specifications of generators that were utilized. We use ETAP transient stability analysis software to simulate a microgrid system, this thesis analyze the effect of different rotor inertia constant on system frequency response and time. The research result can suggest that the specification of generators if replaced in the future.
The original system uses rotor inertia constant 1.2 sec for simulation. Then, we used rotor inertia constant 1 sec, 0.8 sec, and 0.5 sec provided by vendors for simulation. We have considered that when the generator trip fault, and the busses short circuit fault for the simulate cases. To determine when replacing the generators in the future, we would use the result of system frequency change and system response timing. From those results we would also conduct the evaluation of the transient response when system is at fault.
