Abstract |
In this work, both a pulsed waveform with various positive voltages and constant voltages were adopted to anodize the pure titanium plate to produce TiO2 nanotube thin films. Amplitudes of positive voltages, positive time intervals and recipes of electrolyte were adjusted to prepare a series of TiO2 nanotubes with various morphologies and dimensions. The anodized titanium plates were further annealed at 450oC for 30 minutes in air. The methylene blue degradation, photocurrent and antibacterial tests against E. coli were performed to evaluate the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 nanotubes fabricated under different parameters. It was found that the crystalline anatase structure of TiO2 nanotube arrays was formed after annealing at 450oC for 30 minutes in air. Better antibacterial abilities were achieved by the longer TiO2 nanotubes. However, the methylene blue degradation abilities of the annealed TiO2 nanotubes were affected by their surface microstructures rather than their length. It is also concluded that the anodized TiO2 nanotube arrays fabricated in this work exhibit promising results for photo-induced methylene blue degradation and bacteria killing applications. |
