| Abstract | In the 1970s, Taiwan experienced rapid economic growth, with industrialization and modernization driving swift urban expansion. As a result, many historic buildings and monuments were demolished or altered due to spatial demands, leading to a significant loss of cultural assets. With improvements in material living standards and a rising awareness of cultural preservation, the government began implementing cultural heritage conservation policies and regulations in the 1980s, gradually establishing a monument preservation system and fostering grassroots preservation movements. This study adopts a case study approach, selecting Starbucks stores located in historic sites as research subjects. The selected cases include Wanhua Lin Residence, Hsinchu Prefectural Library, Lin Kai-Tai Former Clinic, and the Former Tainan Branch of the Monopoly Bureau of the Taiwan Governor-General¡¦s Office. Through literature review, field investigations, and spatial reuse analysis, the study examines the restoration process, preservation strategies, and operational outcomes following commercial integration. The findings indicate that corporate participation can effectively address funding shortages and management challenges in monument preservation, while enhancing public visibility and cultural value. The Starbucks model offers a feasible pathway for the revitalization and sustainable preservation of heritage sites, highlighting the potential for coexistence between commerce and culture. |
