Abstract |
This research establishes a simple method to analyze the curvature ductility of reinforced concrete (RC) beam sections. The procedure of this method is quite straightforward and easy to apply, and can be used to evaluate curvature ductility ratio of RC beam sections. The section analysis, which complies with complete composite and strain compatibility conditions of 648 RC beam sections, was carried out to investigate the flexural behavior of RC beam sections. As well, a correlation between the curvature ductility ratio and the depth of the neutral axis was established with fairly good agreement. Finally, the simple semi-empirical equations for curvature ductility ratio of reinforced concrete beam sections were derived. These semi-empirical formulas will be facilitated to use in the design of RC beam sections to meet both the moment and curvature ductility requirements. |
