Abstract | In Taiwan, the method of strength superposition is adopted by the design specification (CPA, 2004) of SRC mainly. The method of strength superposition obtained the strength of SRC section by calculated the strength of steel and reinforced concrete individually and then superimposed on. But, this method is basically not considered the composite action of steel and reinforced concrete. This research use the concept of graphic method which commonly used in the design of common reinforced concrete column cross-section to analysis and design the encased steel column section. The graphic method not only simple and consider the composite action of steel and reinforced concrete. This research used to establish the Taiwan market information section of the SRC columns firstly, including 138 groups of the encased steel column section of H shape, the cross shape and the box shape. Use these databases to develop an encased steel column graphic design method. It is also compared with the strength superposition method by way of design examples. The results show that the graphic method in accuracy and economy are better than on the method of strength superposition. In the use of the graphic method can also be relatively quick and easy. |
