Title | Analysis of Structural Deformation of Strike ¡V Ejection Forward Mechanism | ||
Keyword | |||
Abstract | ¡@¡@This research investigates an ejection forward mechanism used in rifles by studying the motions and stress distributions of its parts and improving the stress concentration and spring movement behaviors. Due to the immense chamber pressure during firing, some parts suffered stresses beyond their yield strength. This study also attempted to alleviate the problem. ¡@¡@The CAD software Pro Engineer was used to create the CAD model of the mechanism, and then imported into the finite element package ANSYS to perform explicit dynamic analysis. To simulate a compressed spring condition realistically, a static analysis was first performed on the spring to prestress the spring before the dynamic analysis. The static analysis result was then fed into the explicit dynamic module as the initial condition. ¡@¡@The research executed analyses on three different models. The results have shown that although the third model outperformed the first and second models in equivalent stress in the shell hook and L-shaped lever, the stress levels in other parts of the third model were actually higher. This study did resolve the problem on the spring jamming on the spring guide but also found that the stress in the spring might have surpassed the yielding point. Probable causes of this situation were also discussed. |
