Abstract | Abstract The key index of emergency care system in Taiwan is the survival rate of Out -of-hospital Cardiopulmonary Arrest. According to domestic and international studies, asphyxia lasting four to six minutes will result in brain death. Therefore, to activate ¡§chain of survival¡¨ in the golden rescue period is critical in ¡§out-of-hospital emergency care¡¨, including early recognition and enable emergency care system, early CPR, early AED and early intervention of ALS. EMT who participates in the emergency care must be qualified in knowledge, technical as well as capability. To operate the related equipment quickly and effectively is the technical aspect and to be provided with the sufficient ability to determine the situation based on medical science on the instant and administrate properly is the capability aspect. To provide medical based thinking through official or unofficial training is the knowledge aspect. However, evaluating the quality of emergency care technique only by the survival rate of Out-of-Hospital Cardiopulmonary Arrest is considered insufficient. After all, to do right things is always more important than do more things. Therefore, regarding to the aspects described upon, an EMT must be equipped with the ability of determination, interpersonal interaction and technique to fit the eligibility of ¡§out-of-hospital emergency care¡¨. The area under Fire Bureau The 4th Rescue Brigade control range from ¡K.to Pinglin is diverse in emergency care character because of rural-urban development divide and the special rescue including Water rescue¡BHiker tracking and Car accident rescue in additional to common internal and surgical emergency care. This study, based on EMT training mode, EMT resources and Embulance¡Bequipment planning of With Fire Bureau The 4th Rescue Brigade, New Taipei City Government, investigate the gap between EMT training and real-world practice, and also conduct a questionnaire survey within EMTs to analyze and determine which aspect of ability should be enhanced in emergency care practice through EMT training. |
