Title | Investigation and Verification of Main Factors against Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in the Home | ||
Keyword | |||
Abstract | Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas often formed in the process of incomplete combustion of organic substances. Carbon monoxide can build up to dangerous concentrations indoors when fuel- burning devices are not properly vented, operated, or maintained. This study investigates the causes of home carbon monoxide poisoning related to the installation and use of gas water heaters in cases from 2006 to 2010 through on-site inspections and reference to relevant reports. Multiple regressions are applied to estimate correlations among factors and establish a regression model of carbon monoxide poisoning. Finally, we propose appropriate preventive measures. The result shows three variables, the length of opening window, usage time on gas water heater, room size for gas water heater, which significantly impact carbon monoxide poisoning. The coefficient of determination (R2) for the results of research (the model of RF and CF) are 0.732 and 0.873 . The group of regression equation may explain precisely predict the unit interval/unit time of carbon monoxide. We can apply this estimating model to the announcement and the implementation of disaster prevention announcement. Then, our inhabitants will emphasize disaster prevention by the research. Finally, we can reduce the risk of hideaway home disasters. |
