Title | Application of Nano Photocatalyst to Treat Bio-aerosols of Taditional Markets in Taiwan | ||

Abstract | The objective in this study is to develop a commercial photocatalytic air purifier with PCT-preregister nano-titanium dioxide modular to remove bioaerosols in the indoor specific site¡]traditional market¡^. As a result, the bioaersol concentration of traditional market during business time is above the Taiwan EPA suggested level. The distribution of bioaersol in the market is proportion to selling different goods in stores. Practically, the concentration of bacteria is related to the customers' density. There is a good method for controlling the bacterial concentration if vendors sweep the floor and table every day after business activity. The bacterial community in two markets includes £]-proteobacteria, HGC ¡]Gram positive with high G+C content group¡^and LGC ¡]Gram positive with low G+C content group¡^ by the method of Fluorescence in situ hybridization ¡]FISH¡^. We also found some bacteria which might cause fatal diseases such as Pseudomonas spp., Clostridium spp. even Streptococcus spp. However, the high concentration of endotoxin analyzed by limulus amebocyte lysate¡]LAL¡^test was 549.75 EU/m3 after daily clean. It indicates destroying bacteria allow to release more endotoxin to threat consumers. Moreover, a typical stain, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is selected to be a representative in the traditional market, in order to access the nano-photocatalytic treatment. The nano titanium dioxide¡]TiO2¡^test coupon can inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to 61.93 % in 30 mins¡¦ reaction and 86.36 % in 40 mins¡¦ reaction. The high removal rate, 99.99 % was obtained by the TiO2 modular, with some conditions: high humidity¡]70 %¡^/high flow rate ¡]47 L/min¡^¡]3.05 m/min¡^ or low humidity¡]40 %¡^/low flow rate ¡]30 L/min¡^¡]1.95 m/min¡^. An effective commercial air purifier equipped with PCT-preregister nano-titanium dioxide modular can be excepted to decrease indoor bioaersols in many places. |
