| Title | Design and Implementation of a LoRa-based Remote Flood Warning System | ||
| Keyword | |||
| Abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to develop a remote flood warning system using LoRa as the main transmission interface. To achieve this, a flash flood flow monitoring unit, a receiver-transmitter integrated unit, and a terminal warning unit, all of which are powered by a compact solar panel, have been designed and developed. From a software design perspective, a star-topology architecture for signal detection and transmission has been developed. Based on this architecture, flood surge signals detected by the flash flood flow monitoring unit are broadcast from the integrated receiver-transmitter unit to neighboring units. In this way, the early warning range during flash flood events can be effectively extended, with field measurements indicating a coverage of over 500 meters. The terminal warning unit obtains the flow signals fed from the receiver-transmitter unit. During a flash flood event, warning lights and voice broadcasts are activated to alert individuals near the downstream area to immediately evacuate the riverside. The assembly cost of this remote flood warning system is relatively low. It applies to streams and riversides with poor communication infrastructure, where flash flooding frequently occurs after heavy rainfall. |
