Abstract | This thesis is about to develop a tracking controller of passive solar tracker. The dual axis solar tracking system of the concentrator photovoltaic panel is using the error signal from the quadrant detector to trace and modify. If there is no sunlight, the tracking system will not activate nor continue tracking the sun. When the sun appear after a period of time, as the angle deviated from the solar sensor range, the motor would not be started or continued tracking, at this time there must be an auxiliary controller. Since the orbit of the earth and the sun is fixed, and has theoretical formula, by using the formula of fixed locus of the earth to design a control program and send signals to drive motor for passive tracking and within the permissible of the deviation angle of the solar tracking sensor or the solar cell modules, may set the time interval or angle interval to save energy. The control program uses LabVIEW software. Finally by using the laboratory's existing X-Z dual axis solar tracker, the experimental results confirmed the program control accuracy is within a 5-degree, smaller than using a four-quadrant optical sensor which is 7.85 degrees, so it meets the demand of controlling required. The control program can also be applied to drive the general solar chip modules, and set up a wider tracking angle, and taking into account the function of energy saving. |
