  • Abstract Our country is designed to have densely populated urban areas. There were 86,000 buildings built over 30 years nationwide, of which 34,000 buildings are four or five stories. Taiwan has substantial risk of earthquakes, which affects people¡¦s lives, property, and safety in incidents of high-intensity earthquakes. The removal of hazardous and old buildings will increase. Accidents can easily happened during the demolish without a well-planned strategy.
    In the removal process, one should have a well-planned strategy based on the practical data and research, such as: the ground condition, building¡¦s structure, construction period, and demolish budget. However, the ultimate goals should be the overall safety as well as decrease environmental pollution during the demolishment.
    Assessments should be done prior to the demolishment, such as affirm the stability of structure, interruption of pipeline, route of abandoned waste haul away. Safeguard arrangements should include safety shed prior construction, structural support during the process, protection of neighborhoods, practical work of reduce pollution, and set monitor to pre-alert of a transformation
