  • Abstract This research combine the immobilization technology anaerobic ammonium oxidation (ANAMMOX) process for nitrogen removal from synthetic wastewater.immobilization has several advantages, such as bacteria protection, avoid bacteria washing out, easy for separatition of solid and liquid. Therefore, usually be used in waste water.treatmrent Previous research results indicated that ths ANAMMOX bacteria was damaged during immobilization,Therefore,it mast be overcome for actual application. This research results indicute that it is possible to immobilize Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and ANAMMOX for simultaneously nitrification and denitrification. In addition, after a long acclimation of the immobilized cells cotaining AOB or Activated sludge(AS),ANAMMOX occurred in 168 days. The acclimation period divided into three stages.During the first stage,Nitrite was as the electron acceptor for denitrification bg the immobilized cells. Then,no obvious biological reaction was occured during he second stage,Finally,ANAMMOX occurred in the third stage.Whereas the immobilized cells containing ANAMMOX didn't have ANAMMOX reaction even affer along period of acclimation.
