  • Abstract By using acrylic boards as mold, the concrete slabs with glossy surfaces can be created. In our campus, a concrete chair, which has dimensions 140cm*35cm*5cm¡Awas made with 1cm of concrete with glossy surface and 4cm of traditional concrete in thickness. Due to heavy weight, it is not easy to move the concrete chair. The purpose of this research is trying to find a light weight concrete to replace the 4cm of traditional concrete of the concrete chair, to reduce its weight.
    With fine aggregates, low water cement ratio, and Styrofoam spheres, the light weight concrete was made. Six different weights of addition of Styrofoam spheres were conducted in this research. From its strength-density curve, it is found that the light weight concrete has 2000 psi of strength while density is 1.5 g/cm3¡C Due to zero slump of the concrete, the specimens need to be consolidated during the making process. Therefore, the quality control of the light weight concrete has to be more cautious.
