  • Abstract Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is one of the important sources of fuel for the people, such as gas stoves and water heaters used in residential houses, frying pans and wok in restaurants, and the recent rise of self-service laundry dryers,¡K etc. According to the information of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, there are about 8.7 million natural gas users in Taiwan, of which about 3.6 million are natural gas users and 5.1 million LPG users which are about 58% of the total user. It is convenient to use LPG as a fuel. However, its material properties, once an accident occurs, it will cause heavy casualties and should not be taken carelessly.
This study mainly focuses on recent cases of LPG accidents, and explores the causes of the accidents, including residential gas explosions, carbon monoxide poisoning, and self-service laundry gas explosions.Through root cause analysis (RCA), this study seeks to prevent gas explosion accidents and countermeasures. It is hoped that through the formulation of laws and regulations, policy changes and publicity activities, LPG can not only provide "convenience" to people's lives, but also provide the most important "safety", to prevent disasters, and ensure the safety of people's lives and properties.
The research results show that it is necessary to establish a complete LPG safety management system and mandatory signing of contracts. Although there are provisions for safety management personnel to perform matters, there are no penalties, and there is no piping technician license for LPG pipelines.
