  • Abstract Since the establishment of the National Fire Agency, emergency rescue has been one of the most important duties of each fire station. As the people understand the tasks and the available resources of the fire station better, the duty of the fire station across the country has increased significantly. However, the locations and number of fire stations have never kept pace with the times, which makes the public's comprehension of firefighting resources differ from reality. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to assess the number and location of fire stations, which matter the most when it comes to public safety.
Setting up the fire stations requires many levels of consideration. In addition to finances, people¡¦s needs, public transport issues, the efficiency of rescue action, and the scope of public services are all bound to be considered. By taking advantage of the the Google Map function, there is a fire-fighting ability analysis model in this article, which analyzes the time and number of rescue operations performed by the levels of map transparency. With this analysis mode, the article aimed to analyze the number of rescues carried out in Yilan City, and to explore the current situation of distribution of fire stations. Furthermore, by simulating two different locations of fire station set up in Yilan City, the author predicted the rescue time of the two fire stations and compared the differences between each other. After the analysis, the statistics showed that, comparing to the original ones, although the efficiency of the two new fire stations was slightly improved, however, it did not meet the actual benefits to cost to set up the new fire stations. Modifying the organization chart of the Yilan County Fire Bureau and supplementing the firefighting personnel are only ways to enhance the efficiency of rescue action and to reduce the burden on the firefighters.
