  • Abstract The sudden change in global climate causes the disasters to occur continuously and Taiwan has also suffered from various disasters. In recent years, the occurrence of earthquake, wind damage, flood, debris flow and other disasters has resulted in casualties, missing persons and collapse and damage of buildings. Due to the increasingly complex disaster types, both the frequency of building collapse and damage as well as the rescue risk of firefighters has been increased. According to risk assessment and safety management principle, the emergent supporting technology for collapsed buildings has obviously become one of the compulsory courses for firefighting units to rescue human life. The occurrence of disasters not merely tests disaster relief personnelˇ¦s resilience and the handling mechanism at the scene of disaster is also the important factor affecting the overall disaster relief performance.
By means of literature arrangement, actual case analysis and expert interview, this research discussed whether Taiwanˇ¦s disaster relief mechanism is perfect when the disaster occurs and how to do the temporary supporting at the at the scene of disaster when the buildings collapse; meanwhile, this research adopted various material supporting methods to conduct the analysis and comparison, so as to research the problems and applicability faced by Taiwanˇ¦s future development in material selection and propose the corresponding improvement measurements. Moreover, this paper also analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of various supports to improve the efficiency of building supports and reduce the costs.
