Title The research for Detection Method of Firefighter Physical Fitness and physical enhancement module effectiveness evaluation

  • Abstract Except to apply their knowledge into work by their intelligent learning, firefighters must have basic physical fitness to fit all types of disasters・ rescue. So physical enhancement and maintain in peacetime is the most important mission for firefighters. Firefighters can extend working hours, increase efficiency and shorten rescue time to finish various tasks with better physical fitness.
      Therefore, in order to cope with the work of disaster rescue, the firefighters・ various professional physical fitness should be gradually enhanced by the daily training. In the first phase of this study will follow the research steps, and by referencing firefighter physical detection method in several countries over the world, then research and collate related data with document analysis, data collection, observation and exploration, etc. Inducting firefighter・s physical fitness test method in different countries, study where there is the more appropriate testing method in physical fitness and regular training for firefighters in Taiwan. In the second phase, 340 Fieldwork firefighters・ special physical fitness test results were analyzed, the overall conversion results in an average score of 79.7109 points, with maximum value of 100 points, minimum value of 44.19 points, a standard deviation of 11.9938, and with 50% personnel that scores under 80 points. In the third phase, 56 firefighters (based on 340 fieldwork firefighters, with their average age of 22.93 years old, a maximum value is 39 years old, the minimum value is 18 years old and standard deviation of 6.275), 18 items of physical fitness testing ( including cardiopulmonary endurance test, three minutes of stair stepping test, flexibility test, muscular endurance test, etc.) are evaluated
     In the fourth phase, 8 items of physical implementation of the modular intensive training are offered to these 56 fieldwork firefighters, assessing whether firefighters・ physical capability increase after workout, and thus enhance disaster rescue capacity. For personnel attending training module as sample, understand the changes in detection value via the implementation of the modular eight physical enhance training for male and female firefighters. Compare between different age distribution : the difference detection value via the implementation of the modular eight physical intensive training in 20-year-old, 20-30 years and more than 31 years old firefighters by firefighters.
    After the analysis of the changes in individual muscle strength via the module training and the assessment of the effectiveness, following correlations are considered:
    1. By the introduce of the training module, the experimental group, whether male or female firefighters, are significantly enhanced in special physical fitness and body fitness test results, which is helpful for fieldwork and disaster relief duty.
    2. the study found that tested firefighters with aged under 20 have more significance elevated in special physical fitness test and body fitness test results than the higher age bracket.
    3. Study found that the analysis of detection values from before and after training of different gender also makes different from standard deviation and significance level.
