  • Abstract Since the 1980s, the well development of Taiwan's economy benefits the peopleˇ¦s quality of life and raised their cultural knowledge which brings the majorities eager for a better living environment or even a stylish indoor living space. The professionals of interior design have to constantly readjust their work of furnishing and designing the aesthetics of a room in order to meet the house-ownerˇ¦s taste, even though that usually means to utilize the idea with limited space and resources. What is usually neglected by the designer is to establish a well-defined procedure during the decoration. In this essay, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for decoration is proposed. The SOP involves every stage of the decoration that contains the domain knowledge of multiple fields regards to protective coating and demolition, flooring and tiling, masonry, painting, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, kitchen worktop, fire engineering, AC service, cleaning and other management key factors for ensuring the quality of works. Furthermore, the use of new materials, new technologies and new communication software to optimize the efficiency of management are also included. By adopting this proposed SOP, a result of reducing time/labor costs, improving operational/safety performance, and increasing profits is expected. The purpose of this essay is to create a win-win situation for both the interior designers/construction team and their client.
