Abstract | The rapid development of the Cath Labs using stent as theirs major cure operation, patients are beneficial by this innovative medical operation. Cath Labs have supplies of many models, makes, and types. The products are sometimes owned, consigned, or bought on bulk. They can expire on the shelf and sometimes they are recalled by the manufacturer. Busy clinicians must decrement every item they use but their first priority is patient care and safety. This all adds up to a common problem: too much stock on hand, expiring products not being taken off the shelf and staff dissatisfaction In this paper, we focus on providing a complete solution for Cath Labs that takes the burden off staff and places it on the RFID-enabled technology that makes this possible. Not only is high cost physician preference items counted every 20 minutes by the smart cabinets but there is easy to access data via a web-portal to allow for fast and accurate logistics analysis of the stents suppliers. The research develops a vendor managed inventory solution that was engineered to meet the total needs of the clinical area and for logistics concern. Through the use of RFID-enabled cabinets that can be placed in a storeroom or a procedure room to match concurrent work flow requirements. |
