  • Abstract This research mainly studies the engineering properties of recycled coarse aggregates and recycled concrete following the regulation specified in the ¡§Draft of Construction Specification for Recycled Concrete¡¨ published by the Ministry of Interior The study uses recycled coarse aggregate from lab disposal of a long concrete beam, the commercial red brick and normal-weight natural aggregate to produce the H-class and N-class recycled coarse aggregates. There are 11 different mixture proportion recycled concrete specimens with two W/B ratios of 0.45 and 0.60, and with 20% Slag and 10% Fly ash in cementitious materials. The experimental works include tests of basic properties of recycled coarse aggregates, compressive strength of recycled concrete, chloride diffusion effects of recycled concrete.
The experimental results showed that compressive strength of recycled concrete increasing by the W/B ratio decreasing, and the compressive strength of recycled concretes also increasing by the ratio of replace of recycled coarse aggregate decreasing. For example, the compressive strength of control group may be reach to 550 Kgf/cm2; and the compressive strength of H45-100 and the N45-100 that coarse aggregate is 100% by recycled aggregate and the W/B ratios is 0.45 are between 390~425 Kgf/cm25, the compressive strength reduces approximately 23~29%.
Since the water absorption ratio of the recycled aggregate is obviously higher than the natural aggregate. Therefore, the chloride diffusion coefficient of recycled concrete is also influenced by the ratio of replace of recycled coarse aggregate and the grade of recycled aggregate (H or N class). For example, the chloride diffusion coefficient of R45-00 is 3.39¡Ñ10-7(cm2/s), H45-100 is 10.47¡Ñ10-7(cm2/s), the coefficient increasing 208% by increasing the ratio of replace of recycled coarse aggregate from 0% to 100%; the chloride diffusion coefficient of H45-100 is 10.47¡Ñ10-7(cm2/s), N45-100 is 12.5¡Ñ10-7(cm2/s), the coefficient increasing 19% by replacing H class to N class recycled aggregate.
