Abstract |
This thesis aims to investigate early warning mechanism for highway against natural disasters. Since little has been written on measures taken for minimizing the impact of natural disasters before their coming, the inquiry will greatly contribute to the study of precautionary construction safety. This is done by examining how Alishan Highway¡¦s case has responded in advance to the coming of typhoons. Because its topographic features presumably pose greater threats to the safety of passengers when a natural disaster makes any damage, the case study, looking into historical typhoons happened thereto, will serve as a model mechanism for highways in mountainous areas facing such event. Comparative study between this and other cases will help to strengthen precautionary mechanisms for the latter against natural disasters. |
