  • Abstract The extreme climate caused by the greenhouse effect makes air-conditioning equipment a necessity for people's livelihood, but the people is very unfamiliar with how to purchase air-conditioners. In the early days, consumers mostly consulted professional air-conditioning manufacturers before purchasing. However, as more and more people shop online or go to hypermarkets, there is a risk of choosing an inappropriate air conditioner (A/C) due to insufficient selection conditions. Therefore, this study uses the meteorological data released by the Central Meteorological Bureau in different regional meteorological observation stations, and uses computer programs to analyze regional climate characteristics as a basis for assisting in the selection of household air conditioners. Suggestions for the selection of this study are (1) A/C should meet the cooling capacity, the cooling capacity of Taipei City and New Taipei City can be increased by 10% due to the basin and heat island effect. (2) With the regional climate, it is recommended to use A/C with heat pumps in the north of Taichung, and cooling-only A/C in the south of Taichung. (3) If use A/C after 19:00 in the evening, the normal A/C can be chosen. If use A/C for a long time, especially in the afternoon and evening, the consumer should consider the inverter A/C. (4) If the A/C has a remote control function, it can be turned on in advance before going home, and an air conditioner with a lower cooling capacity can be considered.
