Title | Experimental Study on the performance of Stepped Embankment in the Coastal Hazard Mitigation by Random Waves | ||
Keyword | |||
Abstract | Abstract In this paper, we make irregular waves with different periods pass through the stepped triangle embankment with many sizes set in many directions and slopes. Capacitancy wave gages and Iron feet are used to measure the reflectivity and runupto determine the character of stepped embankment in reducing runup. However, it is hard to measure the runup height due to randomly generated waves with many different periods and heights. It is still worth to research the effect caused by waves passing through stepped embankment with different sizes and directions. The experiment result shows that both reflectivity and runup highly decrease when waves pass through stepped embankment except for waves with lower and higher periods. Traditional wave block, detached breakwater, and groin in coastal are not pretty and eco-friendly. Therefore, we demonstrated the feasibility of stepped embankment replacing traditional wave block and it is obviously helpful for rescue by determining the relation between waves and stepped embankment. |
