| Abstract | In view of the fact that the fire in the domestic medical institutions often causes heavy casualties, causing public safety hazards and triggering social concern. Therefore, it is imperative to strengthen and attach importance to public safety. As the medical institutions provide public places for medical services, especially hospitals are medical use and Family members of the frequent access to the characteristics of the premises, if the occurrence of public security accidents will cause significant loss of life and property. In this study, through literature review, case analysis and expert interview, investigate the characteristics and importance of building public safety and facing the issues and applicability of building public safety in medical institutions and nursing institutions in Taoyuan district, and presents the corresponding countermeasures to solve the problem of public safety and protect people's lives and property safety. The results of the study showd that the fire prevention of the buildings in the public security inspection, the non-fire area divided the wall, the interior decoration materials, the entrance and exit of the refuge layer, the entrance of the corridor, the corridors (indoor access), the stairs and the safety ladder , Therefore, the competent authority of construction and the competent authority shall strengthen the public safety inspection and supervision.
