| Title | Discussion on Issues Faced by Female Construction Personnel on Job Sites | ||
| Keyword | |||
| Abstract | In Taiwan's construction industry, female professionals face multiple challenges primarily stemming from labor shortages, traditional societal views on women's roles, and gender inequality within the industry. The challenges women encounter on construction sites include physical demands, long working hours, limited vacation time, and relocation based on project locations. Furthermore, unequal pay and promotion opportunities restrict women's career advancement. This study employs questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to gather perspectives on women's work from professionals of different genders, seniority levels, and marital statuses. Respondents generally acknowledge women's potential, but express reservations about gender inequality in higher-level positions. Survey results indicate that most do not believe women are inherently less competitive, but there remain differing opinions regarding promotion opportunities and family responsibilities. The study points out that women working on construction sites often face issues such as irregular working hours, gender discrimination, and physical strain. While there are women-only facilities, the friendliness of the work environment still needs improvement. To promote women's participation, it is recommended to improve the workplace environment, break down gender stereotypes, provide support systems, and develop concrete solutions to attract more female talent to the industry. |
