Title | The research of the nanotechnology education by experiment on the 5th grade students of an elementary school | ||
Keyword | |||
Abstract | The goal of this project is to teach the children how to use the plants around us in the campus to do the experiment of ¡§hydrophobic property on leaf surface¡¨ and then teach about the Nanotechnology. These simple experiments were led by a teacher who motivated the children to learn about Nanotechnology. The investigator use the scanning electron microscope (SEM) to take the photo of the surface structure,and completed material of the nanotechnology education , and put the photos on the teaching website for students to look through and raise their interests. Through the reward system, the higher capability students will try to teach the lower capability students, enable to increase the learning effect. There were 34 students involved in this project and they are from the same 5th Grade class. The author is the teacher of the class. He encouraged students to perform physical experiments and used daily life examples in his teaching methods. Analysis of results from taking students to make observations of plants, group discussions, surveys of team achievements and examinations indicate that this project helped students to build up a positive attitude towards the importance and future development of Nanotechnology. The proposal of this project: the author recommends teachers to include everyday life examples and simple experiments in their teaching in order to motivate students. This will result in better student learning. |
