Title The Effects of Knowledge of Green Building on Purchasing Behaviors - with Building Forms and Living Areas as the Moderating Variables

  • Abstract The main purpose of green building is to minimize negative impacts to the environment. Although green building has been promoted for many years, in fact, whether the knowledge of green building will affect consumers・ purchasing behaviors is the main motivation of this study. The results of investigation on green building will vary greatly due to various living areas and Building forms, so this study explored whether consumers・ living areas and Building forms will moderate the effects of knowledge of green building on purchasing behaviors, with urban/rural areas and building forms as the moderating variables.
    The study results show that, (1)the variable of consumer background is partially and significantly different in green building awareness and purchasing behaviors, and(2) green building awareness is significantly and positively related to purchasing behaviors. Meanwhile, (3)the regression analysis also shows that the consumers・ green building awareness has significant and positive effects on purchasing behaviors, but such effects are negatively moderated by living areas (towns). In other words, (4)consumers・ higher green building awareness will lead to higher purchasing behaviors, but such effects will be reduced if consumers live in towns.
    This study explored the effects of consumers・ knowledge of green building on purchasing behaviors are moderated by consumers・ Building forms and living areas, the results can provide a reference for the government to promote green building policies or for green building designers and construction companies to improve product quality.
